DNR to host open house March 6 regarding relocation of Chestonia Bridge boating access site
Staff from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources will be on hand Monday, March 6, to review preliminary plans for relocating the Chestonia Bridge boating access site, currently located on the Jordan River on Old State Road in East Jordan (Antrim County). The DNR open house will run from 4 to 7 p.m. at the East Jordan Public Schools Community Auditorium, 101 Maple St.
At the open house, DNR staff will talk about the proposed boating access site, answer questions and gather public input. Preliminary plans for the boating access site will be on display. People are welcome to attend at any time during the three-hour open house.
Representatives of the Antrim County Road Commission and members of the Conservation Resource Alliance also will be available to answer questions regarding the adjacent bridge replacement project.
This project is funded through the Michigan State Waterways Fund. The restricted fund, which is derived from boat registration fees and the Michigan marine fuel tax, helps fund the construction, operation and maintenance of public recreational boating facilities.
