DNR seeks input on master plans for six state wildlife/game areas in southwest Michigan
State game area managers with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are seeking public review and input on draft master plans for the following state wildlife/game areas:
Mark Sargent, regional supervisor for the DNR Wildlife Division's Southwest Region, said the primary purpose of a master plan is to set strategic habitat direction and guide management actions to achieve the desired conditions for priority wildlife species identified in the plan.
“The master plan process allows people an opportunity to give input regarding the future management of these areas. Those who have a stake in how these areas will be managed are encouraged to share feedback,” said Sargent.
Comments should be directed, by Feb. 28, to the biologist responsible for managing each area (biologists’ names and e-mail addresses are listed within each plan).
After Feb. 28, authors will review comments and make updates, if necessary. Once the plans are approved, they will be placed on the Michigan DNR state wildlife/game area web page, and will be reviewed again within 10 years of the approved date.
