Belle Isle Park continues senior-focused event series through December
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced the fall lineup for Senior Power Days that will take place at Belle Isle Park.
Belle Isle Park, a 985-acre island park located in the Detroit River near downtown Detroit, is rich with natural beauty and historical and cultural resources. The park is home to the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, walking trails, bicycle paths, a golf course, the James Scott Memorial Fountain and many more cultural and natural attractions popular with all ages and interests.
Senior Power Days, a series of senior-focused recreational and educational events, will include topics ranging from exercise, crafts and leisure to seasonal events. A handful of events already have taken place as part of the 2016 event series that began in mid-June. The program is open to seniors from Detroit, but also welcomes residents from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. This is the second year of the program.
"The series has a lasting impart because it connects seniors to their community by highlighting resources and opportunities for our senior population," said Stephanie Donaldson, founder and spokesperson of Senior Power Days. "We encourage all seniors from the Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties to participate in these upcoming events and to explore the Belle Isle while you are here."
