DNR seeks public feedback on playground plans at Grand Haven State Park
What should a playground offer? Slides or swings? Climbers or diggers? Tunnels or towers? All of the above? Fans of Grand Haven State Park, in Ottawa County, are encouraged to attend a Sept. 21 public information meeting to share their ideas.
The Friends of Grand Haven State Park and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources are planning a new playground in Grand Haven State Park. The playground will be located in the north section of the campground near the boardwalk.
The public meeting is set for Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 6:30 p.m. at the Loutit District Library, 407 Columbus Ave. in Grand Haven. Families with children are encouraged to attend. Children younger than 12 should be accompanied by an adult. Parking is free. Light refreshments will be served.
Playground plans include equipment for children ages 2-5 and for school-aged children ages 5-12. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting in order to help guide the most appropriate and engaging recreation space.
For more information about the Sept. 21 meeting, contact Matt Shaver, park manager at Grand Haven State Park, at 616-847-1309 or Karen Casey, Friends of Grand Haven State Park volunteer, at 517-515-4130 or caseyk@msu.edu.
