Wilson State Park beach reopens after temporary closure
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today announced that the beach at Wilson State Park in Clare County has reopened after a temporary closure that resulted from high E. coli bacteria levels.
The closure, issued by the Central Michigan District Health Department, was a result of water sample tests taken Thursday, July 7. The results showed the amount of bacteria exceeded the state’s standard for total body contact for recreational activities, including swimming.
The health department took samples Monday, July 11, and the samples demonstrated that the water no longer contained high levels of E. coli bacteria and was safe.
Questions about the beach closure may be directed to Rich Fenner, Wilson State Park supervisor, at 989-539-3021.
