Portion of North Eastern State Trail will be temporarily rerouted for culvert replacement in Cheboygan County

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources in partnership with the Cheboygan County Road Commission and the Michigan Department of Transportation will be performing repairs on the North Eastern State Trail in Cheboygan County.

The repair work is scheduled to start July 25 and will take approximately two weeks to complete. The work will include replacing a collapsed culvert and addressing drainage issues that are making the trailbed unstable.

The project area is just south of the Cheboygan River and east of M-33, approximately 3 1/2 miles south of the city of Cheboygan. Trail traffic will be routed onto Carter and Hackmatack roads for the duration of the project.
