Department of Natural Resources Lansing Customer Service Center now open
The Department of Natural Resources invites area residents to visit its new Customer Service Center at 4166 Legacy Parkway in Lansing, which opened to the public today. A map to the new facility is available for download below.
The new Lansing Customer Service Center, which replaces the now-closed DNR Rose Lake Field Office on East Stoll Road in East Lansing, is in close proximity to Michigan State University and near a major highway exchange – U.S. 127 and I-96. It is one of 10 full-service DNR customer service centers around the state.
These centers are open to the public Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to help customers who want to buy a license, ask a question, learn about seasonal regulations, invite the DNR to participate in a school or community program, or simply learn more about Michigan's outdoor recreation opportunities.
Services the new Lansing office will provide include:
- Selling Recreation Passports; hunting, fishing and ORV licenses; and snowmobile and ORV trail permits.
- Issuing a variety of permits, including permits for hunters, anglers and ORV riders with disabilities, crop damage permits for farmers, and salvage permits for roadkill animals.
- Administering tests, including the proctored boater safety exam and experienced hunter, inland pilot and falconry tests.
- Issuing temporary replacement hunter safety certificates.
- Directing customers to the nearest licensed wildlife rehabilitator for injured animals.
The Lansing Customer Service Center’s phone number is 517-284-4720.
There will be a continued DNR presence at the site of the former Rose Lake office. The Rose Lake shooting range will expand, and an educational building – funded with the support of a grant from the Hal & Jean Glassen Memorial Foundation – is under construction.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is committed to the conservation, protection, management, use and enjoyment of the state’s natural and cultural resources for current and future generations. For more information, go to www.michigan.gov/dnr.
