Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix to donate complimentary Recreation Passports to seniors May 18
The Department of Natural Resources today announced that the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix will donate up to 600 complimentary annual Recreation Passports to Michigan residents 60 or older as part of Senior Power Days. The giveaway will take place Wednesday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to noon on the white house lawn at Belle Isle Park. Parking is available in the parking lot across the street.
The Recreation Passport is required for vehicle entry to all 102 Michigan state parks, including Belle Isle. It also gains motorists access to 138 state forest rustic campgrounds and many free, family-friendly events, as well as parking for hundreds of miles of trails and fee-based boat launches. The sticker is valid until the next vehicle plate renewal date.
Senior Power Days are a series of recreational and educational programs for thousands of seniors from Detroit, but also include residents from Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
Each event in the 10-event series will be held at the casino facility on Belle Isle and the sessions will cover an array of topics ranging from senior safety, health education and recreational activities to jazz concerts and faith-based activities. Senior Power Days collaborates with a variety of senior organizations at the state and tri–county level.
