Water levels at Foch Lake flooding in Montmorency County now back to normal
The Department of Natural Resources advises local recreation enthusiasts that the control structure at Foch Lake flooding has been rebuilt and the water level restored, allowing anglers and campers to once again enjoy all the activities the area has to offer.
A 2011 mandatory inspection of the Foch Lake dam recommended a complete removal or complete renovation due to a degraded structure.
The DNR’s Fisheries Division was the recipient of a Dam Management Grant in 2013, with matching dollars coming from the division, the Upper Black River Council, and the Montmorency County Conservation Club. WadeTrim, a local contractor, was the project manager.
Upon receiving the funding, the flooding was drawn down in the fall of 2014, and the new structure was designed. It was constructed last fall, and the impoundment has been slowly filling since then.
With the completion of this renovation, those wishing to visit Foch Lake for recreational purposes can again do so. For more information on this project, contact the Northern Lake Huron Management Unit at 989-732-3541.
