Natural Resources Commission to meet Thursday in Holland
The Michigan Natural Resources Commission will hold its regular monthly meeting Thursday, March 10, at the DoubleTree Hotel, 650 East 24th St., in Holland, Michigan. All sessions will be held in the hotel’s Pointe West Conference Room.
The day begins with a 1 p.m. meeting of the Policy Committee on Wildlife and Fisheries. Department of Natural Resources Fisheries Division staff will present on fish disease control and the Lake Michigan fisheries management planning process. DNR Wildlife Division staff will give updates on proposed regulations for migratory game bird hunting seasons and the use of certain state game and wildlife areas. Updates also will be given on bear harvest allocation and bear population trends, elk hunting and license quotas and coyote regulations. The committee also will receive a presentation on a feral swine research area proposal.
The Committee of the Whole meets at 3 p.m. DNR Director Bill Moritz’s report will include updates on state parks and trails, forest resources, invasive carp and pending legislative matters, as well as a status update on Güd Marketing’s work with the Michigan Wildlife Council.

Following public comments, Director Moritz is scheduled to announce a land use decision prohibiting the launch of watercraft from state-managed lands on three Allegan County lakes. The director also is expected to act on several land transactions.
