Otsego Lake State Park boating access site will close temporarily for major site improvements

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced the Otsego Lake State Park boating access site in Otsego County will be closed for a major site improvement. The closure is anticipated to take place in mid-April and construction is expected to be substantially completed by May 26.

An alternate boating access site is located at the Otsego Lake County Park on the northwest side of the lake. The adjacent day-use area at Otsego Lake State Park also will be closed during site improvements; however, the state park campground will remain open during this time. Public patience and consideration are appreciated during the site closure.

Improvements include traffic lane maneuvering improvements, parking lot upgrades, a new boat and trailer tie-down lane, naturalized storm-water management systems and full, barrier-free accessibility. Otsego Lake is one of the largest lakes in the county, and improvements at this site will greatly enhance the public service for the boating public.
