Ludington State Park to lower Hamlin Lake beginning Oct. 26
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources today announced that beginning Monday, Oct. 26, Ludington State Park in Mason County will begin the annual process of lowering Hamlin Lake to its winter water level.
The lake-lowering process is expected to take four to eight weeks, depending upon precipitation during that period. The winter level is maintained at approximately 2 feet below the summer level and is necessary to control ice damage and erosion. For more information, contact the park at 231-843-2423.
Ludington State Park is located at 8800 W. M-116 in Ludington, and features scenic sand dunes, a shoreline vista, ponds, marshlands and forests. Camping reservations are available at www.midnrreservations.com.
