Celebrate Michigan Trails Week, Sept. 19-26, and the Iron Belle Trail's first corporate donation
As a partner of Michigan's Iron Belle Trail, you can play a big part in helping to spread the word about Michigan Trails Week - a celebration of Michigan's entire trail network. Here are some ways you can make a difference:
Spread the word:
- Post visually interesting content, like the Trails Week logo, on your website, social media pages (Facebook cover photo), and in email messages, along with a call to action inviting people to celebrate.
- Share photos of your local trails, especially photos of people enjoying them!
- Share the DNR's trail infographic, attached to this email and on the Michigan Trails Week webpage at www.michigan.gov/trailsweek or photos in the Iron Belle Trail photo library at Flickr.com.
- Create a weeklong Facebook event and invite followers to join as a reminder to get out on the trails during the celebration.
List an event:
- Businesses, organizations and individuals are welcome to list events on the Trails Week calendar by emailing details to mitrailweek@gmail.com. Remember to include details like who, what, when, where and how to get more information.
- If your event is a volunteer event on Saturday, Sept. 26, you can register it on the National Public Lands Day website at www.publiclandsday.org/register-site.
- Event planning tips and tools are available at www.michigan.gov/trailsweek.
Get on the trails:
- Ultimately, we do the work we do because we love the outdoors, so be sure to enjoy Michigan Trails Week yourself! View the calendar of events at www.michigan.gov/trailsweek or simply enjoy a trail on your own or with friends.
The DNR also is pleased to announce its first corporate donation toward development of Michigan's Iron Belle Trail, to be announced at a 10:30 a.m. event tomorrow at Lansing City Market. We invite trail advocates and fans to join us as we celebrate this milestone achievement and get ready for Trails Week!
