Youth Field Day at Maple River State Game Area Sept. 12

two young male waterfowl huntersThe Department of Natural Resources will host a Youth Field Day at Maple River State Game Area in Gratiot County Saturday, Sept. 12, as part of Youth Waterfowl Hunting Weekend. All are welcome to join the fun from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Explore waterfowl habitat and learn about duck hunting and calling, cleaning and cooking waterfowl, firearm safety, decoy strategies and more. There also will be shooting and retriever demonstrations.

Sponsored by the Grand River Chapter of Michigan Duck Hunters Association, Consumers Energy and D.L. Kesler Construction, this event is free of charge. Prizes, snacks and refreshments will be available, and there will be a raffle for great items like a youth shotgun.
