Advocate for Kinship Care Families
In recognition of Kinship Awareness Month, we want to shine a light on what it means to be a kinship family. We invite you to read the Frisbie family's story and help us advocate for kinship awareness.
Meet Deb & Ryleigh: A Kinship Family Advocating for Change
Dick and Deb Frisbie began their kinship and adoption journey when their grandchildren needed a safe place to live. The years that followed were not easy. Like many kinship families, they experienced legal issues and learned to parent and advocate for children who may have additional needs due to trauma and loss.
Ryleigh Frisbie is grateful her grandparents adopted her to keep their family together. Because of the many selfless decisions they made, Ryleigh and her brother were able to grow up in a supportive and stable home. Today, Deb and Ryleigh actively advocate for the support of kinship families and encourage others to join this effort.
Help us advocate for kinship families — visit the Kinship Care Resource Center (KCRC). The KCRC serves kinship care families across the state by providing caregivers with informed resources, access to kinship navigators, training opportunities, and more.
