Dear Immunization Partners,
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has updated the charts Vaccines Required for Childcare and Preschool in Michigan and the Vaccines Required for School Entry in Michigan.
Changes in Vaccines Required for Childcare and Preschool in Michigan
- Changed “Both, Infants, and children must” to “Parents must” in the top paragraph, second sentence
- Added, “for their infants and children to attend” in the top paragraph, second sentence
- Changed footnote from asterisk to number 1 in MMR row
- Changed footnote from asterisk to number 1 in Hepatitis B row
- Changed footnote from asterisk to number 1 in Varicella row
- In the footnote added, “All doses of vaccines must be valid (follow CDC Immunization Schedule for number of doses, correct spacing, and ages) for childcare and preschool entry purposes.”
- Updated the MDHHS disclaimer statement
Changes in Vaccines Required for School Entry in Michigan
- Changed “Children must” to “Parents must” in the top paragraph, second sentence
- Changed “vaccine laws” to “state vaccine laws” in the top paragraph, second sentence
- Changed from “in order to attend” to “in order for their children to attend” in the top paragraph, second sentence
- Change in Polio row added footnote 1, “All doses of vaccines must be valid (follow CDC Immunization Schedule for number of doses, correct spacing, and ages) for school entry purposes. These rules apply to children who are the above ages upon entry into school.”
- Replaced the asterisk next to MMR, Hepatitis B and Varicella with footnote 2
- Added footnote 2 in MMR, Hepatitis B and Varicella rows: “If the child has not received these vaccines, documented immunity is required. During disease outbreaks, incompletely vaccinated children may be excluded from school. Parents and guardians choosing to decline vaccines must obtain a certified non-medical waiver from a local health department. Read more about waivers at www.Michigan.gov/Immunize.”
- Updated the MDHHS disclaimer statement
