September is Kinship Awareness Month
Kinship Care is the full-time care, nurturing, and protection of children by relatives. Over 52,000 children in Michigan live with family members other than their parents. Caring for these children is a full-time job. Many kinship families are without community support, encouragement, and resources that could help them.
During the month of September, we recognize these families for Kinship Awareness Month. Throughout this month we encourage you to visit and share the resources available to you. Follow along as we recognize 30 families participating in kinship care and learn from their stories.
