2024 MI Healthy Climate Plan Annual Report highlights continued progress toward climate goals
Michigan continues to take bold steps to avert the worst impacts of climate change. The 2024 MI Healthy Climate Plan Report focuses on the past 12 months of new legislation, funding, initiatives, and more to build a cleaner, healthier, more prosperous future for all Michiganders.
Highlights of the 2024 report include:

Michigan’s clean energy leadership showcased on global stage
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) recently unveiled "Michigan’s Roadmap to a Sustainable World," a short film on the state’s leadership and initiatives in clean energy and sustainability, premiering at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting and live on CBS News.
Registration is open for the MI Healthy Climate Conference!
Join us at the third annual MI Healthy Climate Conference on April 22-23, 2025, at the Huntington Place in Detroit! Under the theme "Road to 2030," speakers will share about their success stories, challenges, funding opportunities, technical assistance, and other actions they are taking in the six priority areas of the MI Healthy Climate Plan, with specific focus on reaching our interim 2030 goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 52% from 2005 baselines, in an equitable manner.

Upcoming deadlines and reminders
- Apply by February 5 for Coalition for Green Capital’s Municipal Investment Fund grants
- Eligible Entities: Local governments
- Apply by February 21 to the Michigan Saves Request for Qualifications for Technical Assistance for Michigan Saves Climate Fund Pre-Development Activities
- Apply by March 14 for DNR community forestry grants
- Apply by March 20 for MPSC Renewable Energy and Electrification Infrastructure Enhancement and Development Grants
- Eligible Entities: Businesses, nonprofit organizations, units of local and state government, and Tribal governments
- Respond to Request for Proposal by April 30 for the 2025 Small Manufacturers Retooling Program
- Apply for the Great Lakes Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaking Program. Grant applications will be accepted from December 5, 2024, until November 2026. Grant announcements will be made several times a year until the end of 2026.
- Eligible Entities: Tribal governments and intertribal consortia, Native American and Indigenous organizations, nonprofit organizations (including community-based, grassroots, philanthropic, and civic organizations), and local governments
- Apply for clean energy financing through the Coalition for Green Capital Request for Proposal
