EGLE is seeking your input on a program to support Michigan Justice40 communities to secure funding for climate and energy projects

There are billions of dollars in federal funding available through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to invest in climate and energy projects. With the federal and State of Michigan Justice40 commitment that at least 40% of the benefits from climate and energy-related investments flow to disadvantaged communities, there is a historic opportunity to channel this funding to Michigan’s overburdened and underserved communities. However, many Michigan Justice40 communities and organizations face significant barriers to apply for complex federal grants or to receive funding from successful state applications for federal funding.
The Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is working to develop a Justice40 technical assistance program that would assist community-based organizations in Michigan’s disadvantaged communities to build capacity and secure more funding for climate and energy projects in their community and help implement the MI Healthy Climate Plan.
