Background:
EGLE is taking escalated enforcement against Stellantis for multiple violations at their Mack Plant. This action includes violations that happened between September 2021 and May 2022. Several of the violations were the result of investigations that stemmed from community complaints of offensive odors. The escalated enforcement action resulted in a proposed legal agreement, called a consent order, which includes a monetary fine, a compliance plan, and fines if additional similar future violations are found.
The proposed consent order also includes two Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEPs). The two SEPs include a new Building Management System to greatly improve energy efficiency at Southeastern High School and partnering with The Greening of Detroit to plant over 80 trees in Brewer Park near the plant.
EGLE is seeking public input on the proposed consent order. This meeting is not the only way to tell us what you think. Comments can be submitted at any time during the comment period ending on November 2, 2022.
