Background:
Nearby residents have shared environmental and health concerns with EGLE staff. Some residents have filed odor complaints after recent construction at the Detroit Assembly Complex. In response, EGLE staff have inspected the Stellantis Detroit Assembly Complex. They learned that some equipment was not installed as required in the plant’s air permit. Corrections to equipment were completed in late December 2021.
To address concerns, EGLE is partnering with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and the United States Environmental Protection Agency to conduct air sampling.
