CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Environmental Emergency Management Conference
June 29-30 Lansing, Michigan
Abstract submission deadline is January 30.
The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is hosting the Environmental Emergency Management Conference, June 29-30, in Lansing, Michigan.
The focus of this conference will be on environmental emergency preparedness and mitigation, response, and recovery related to incidents impacting the environment and public health. Participants may include federal, state, and local emergency response personnel, public health officials, facility emergency managers, contractors, consultants, academia, or anyone within the emergency response community.
Conference sessions will include topic areas (tracks) as shown below. Please review the topics to consider the category where your presentation would best fit. Authors may suggest additional topics that are not on the list, but they must fit a general topic area related to environmental emergency management, planning, and response.
Interested presenters are invited to submit one or more abstracts. Authors of accepted abstracts will be notified by late February. All primary presenters will receive a complimentary conference registration.
Topic Areas

Preparedness and Mitigation – emergency response planning, planning tools, planning development, building resilient communities, process, framework, mitigation, etc.

Response – actual response to an incident including strategy, Incident Command System, training, tools, roles, resources, best management practices, etc.

Recovery – recovery to a normal condition after an environmental incident, which could include responsibilities, coordination, regulation, procedures, etc.
EGLE is specifically seeking talks that address:
- Case studies
- Climate change and weather impacts
- Response strategy and technology
