FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 27, 2021 EGLE Media Office, EGLE-Assist@Michigan.gov, 517-284-9278
New decision date for Genesee County asphalt plant permit is Nov. 15
The timeline for a decision on an air permit for a proposed new asphalt plant in Genesee County has been extended again to give the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) additional time to continue reviewing extensive public comments received. The permit determination is now to be made by Monday, Nov. 15, 2021.
EGLE received hundreds of comments during the public comment period, which ended Sept. 22. EGLE must decide to approve the permit with or without changes, or to deny the permit. The agency will announce the decision once one has been made.
Information on the Ajax proposal can be found on the Pending Decision page, including background details, the proposed permit conditions, and recordings of both the August 3 and September 1 public meetings.
Information about this public notice and other air quality public notices may be found at Michigan.gov/EGLEAirPublicNotice.
Extended review time is allowed under Rule 206 of the Michigan Air Pollution Control Rules. EGLE has until November 15 to make a decision.
