 Dear Community Partner,
The Michigan Department of Civil Rights (MDCR) is conducting a Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan to review the accessibility of its facilities and programs in accordance with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Our goal is to ensure that all of MDCR’s programs, services, and activities are readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities. The purpose of this letter is to solicit public input on existing or perceived barriers to persons with disabilities related to MDCR programs.
Your input is crucial in identifying and remediating any accessibility barriers. MDCR will review and consider all comments for inclusion in the final report. Please feel free to share this information with others who may be interested in contributing feedback. A social media tool kit to facilitate dissemination of the survey within your network will be provided in a subsequent email.
MDCR will accept public comments until the plan’s anticipated adoption in the fall of 2025. An online survey is also available at Michigan Department of Civil Rights ADA Survey. A copy of the draft Transition Plan will be made available for public review and comment at MDCR’s offices and on the MDCR website, and we will notify the public once it becomes available.
Consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Michigan Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act, MDCR will make reasonable modifications to its policies, practices or procedures in order to allow qualified persons with disabilities to participate in our public facing programs, services, and activities. If you require auxiliary aids or services for effective communication, alternative formats of materials or a reasonable modification to participate in the survey, please submit your request in writing to CruzS4@michigan.gov by August 1, 2025. Requests received after that time will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Please forward any comments or questions to Sarah Cruz via email at CruzS4@michigan.gov.
We look forward to your feedback.
Sincerely,
Sarah Cruz ADA Title II Specialist
