MDCR’s Community Engagement Division has approved the first Mission Forward Grant! The winning proposal, submitted by the Saginaw ALPACT chapter, is a collaboration between the Saginaw County Community Mental Health Authority and the Saginaw Police Department. Titled “Connect, Protect and Serve,” the proposal includes organizing lunch events at which law enforcement officers and community members with mental illnesses and cognitive or behavioral disabilities can build common understanding.
The Mission Forward Grant uses funds allocated by the state legislature to support participating ALPACT chapters in their work to strengthen relationships between police departments and the communities they serve.
MDCR is accepting Mission Forward Grant applications on a rolling basis. For more information, contact Carly Behrendt at BehrendtC2@michigan.gov.
