Proposals must be received no later than November 10, 2025 at 3 p.m.
The Michigan Craft Beverage Council (MCBC) announced that it will accept proposals for the 2026 research and education grant program until 3 p.m. (EST) on November 10, 2025.
The MCBC awards individual research grants of up to $40,000. The MCBC also awards individual education grants of up to $5,000. These grants are intended to support education efforts that strengthen Michigan’s craft beverage industry.
A joint evaluation committee will review all proposals and support requests for research and education grants in December 2025 with funding decisions expected later that month.
Prospective applicants must email proposals and letters of support requests to MDARD-CraftBev@Michigan.gov no later than 3 p.m. (EST) on Monday, November 10, 2025. The third annual Michigan Craft Beverage Summit will take place March 23-25, 2026, in Muskegon.
This event will convene hundreds of craft beverage colleagues, including breweries, wineries, cideries and distilleries for valuable education and networking. It will also convene Michigan-based farmers (think hops, barley, wine grapes, cider apples, syrup, and fruit), maltsters, researchers, and more!
In addition to educational sessions, the conference will feature a Michigan-based supplier trade show, and a buyer/supplier matchmaking event.
Registration will open in November 2025.

2026 Michigan Craft Beverage Summit Survey
Proposals due by 5 p.m. on December 3, 2025
The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) announced it will accept applications for Rural Development Fund Grants now through 5 p.m. (EST) Wednesday, December 3.
Rural Development Fund Grants promote the sustainability of land-based industries and support infrastructure benefiting rural communities in Michigan. Land-based industries include food and agriculture; forestry; mining; oil and gas production; and tourism.
Eligible counties include those with a population no greater than 70,000 residents or micropolitan statistical areas. Communities may self-identify as rural if they can provide an example of a state or federal program that classifies them as rural. Applicants must specifically reference the state or federal program within their application. For a complete list of eligible counties, visit the Rural Development Fund Grant website.
MDARD will host an informational webinar on this grant opportunity on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 10 a.m. (EDT). More information about the webinar is located on the MDARD website.
Proposals must be received online through the MiAgGrants system no later than 5 p.m. (EST) on December 3, 2025. Proposals received after 5 p.m. (EST) will not be considered.

MDARD is excited to partner with Michigan State University (MSU) Extension to bring opportunities for buyers and suppliers to meet one-on-one at the Great Lakes Expo!
Registration is currently open for buyers and closes on October 21, 2025. Supplier registration will open closer to the Great Lakes Expo. Watch your inbox for the opening of supplier registration!
As a registered buyer you can select products that you want to source during the registration process. Buyers will then select which suppliers are best able to fit their needs for the pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings. MDARD will schedule buyers’ meetings for the event based on buyer selections. Participating in these meetings allows buyers to have pre-arranged meetings scheduled with pre-selected suppliers that can meet their buying needs.
The one-on-one matchmaking meetings will take place December 10, 2025, at the Great Lakes Expo held at Devos Place in Grand Rapids. The event will run from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with 10- to 20-minute rotating meetings. Registration is free and is now open at Meet the Buyers at the 2025 Great Lakes Expo.
