South Korea is Michigan’s 4th largest export market for food, agriculture, and forest products. According to the United States Census Bureau, $172 million worth of U.S agricultural products were exported to South Korea in 2022.

-
Cocoa and cocoa preparations
-
Prepared vegetables, fruits, nuts, and other plant parts

International Marketing
23 Michigan companies recently took advantage of the Michigan Pavilion booth space offered at 3 recent domestic trade shows this spring and summer. Companies exhibited at the National Restaurant Association Show, Sweets and Snacks Expo, and the Summer Fancy Food Show through the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s International Marketing Program.
Michigan companies were able to make connections that will help to grow their businesses at each show.
In total, the exhibiting companies estimated the following:
|
Little Diablo Salsa was one of the companies that exhibited at the Sweets and Snacks Show in Chicago in May along with six other Michigan companies. Doug and Stacy Bering have a product line of all natural salsas.
“The Sweets and Snacks Expo provided us an opportunity to meet current buyers and potential buyers under one roof. We were introduced to so many key people from large domestic retailers, international buyers, private labeling opportunities and a few collaboration ideas. We received so much positive feedback on our product, it really makes a difference when people can actually taste your products and meet the founders. It makes the whole experience all that more personal. We are so excited to see what exciting things this trade show brings our way!”
The International Marketing Program organizes Michigan Pavilions at international and domestic trade shows as part of the program’s mission to assist the state’s food and agricultural businesses in developing domestic and international market opportunities to effectively grow their business.
