Governor Gretchen Whitmer proclaimed November as Michigan Craft Beverage Month, recognizing Michigan’s robust craft beverage industry’s vital economic development and social benefits. Read the full press release announcing November is Michigan Craft Beverage Month.

The Michigan Craft Beverage Council has coordinated the first-annual Michigan Craft Beverage Month campaign to encourage support of small and local craft businesses into the holiday season. We are encouraging many ways to support, including:

  • Incorporate MI craft beverages into holiday meal planning
  • Plan your next winery, brewery or distillery tour while spending time with friends and family
  • Support MI craft beverage businesses for gift giving
  • Need a break from the holiday planning? Find a tasting room near you.

Look for articles, interviews, and social media posts in support of this effort coming from the Michigan Craft Beverage Council. Thank you in advance for helping to share the news!

Please direct questions to Jenelle Jagmin at 517-930-0696 or Jagminj@michigan.gov.

Growers - Explore new markets in the craft beverage industry!

The Michigan Craft Beverage Council is pleased to announce a new tool to connect specialty crop growers with craft beverage producers. We are launching a database to be promoted to the craft beverage industry that contains information about growers in Michigan. These businesses can search for crops by variety, location, and other identifying characteristics.

As a grower, uploading your information to this database couldn’t be easier! Simply click this link and fill in the information you want craft beverage producers to know! The directory promotions will begin early in 2023 once it has been populated with your information.

View the directory as craft beverage businesses will see it.

Michigan Wine Collaborative invites everyone to “Taste Michigan”

Next time you’re thinking about enjoying a glass of wine, Michigan’s wine industry has a suggestion for you: “Taste Michigan.”

That’s the brand name behind a new marketing platform launched by the Michigan Wine Collaborative, an association of wineries and wine professionals from around the state. Supported by a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the Michigan Department of Agriculture & Rural Development, the Taste Michigan campaign was created to help increase awareness, interest and consumption of Michigan wines.

For now, Taste Michigan is being supported with a new website, TasteMichigan.org, and social media presence. Other promotional tactics will roll out over the next few months, with a campaign preview for industry professionals this winter. Michigan has over 150 wineries currently in operation – up from about 40 in 2000 – with over 3,300 acres of wine grapes being cultivated.
