The Michigan State University (MSU) Food & Beverage Industry Career Fair is ideal for employers seeking MSU’s top talent to fill internships / co-ops or full-time positions. This event is a unique recruiting event and encourages craft beverage businesses to recruit for all areas in your organization. Students who attend are interested in manufacturing, operations, production, brewing, quality assurance, research and development, logistics, marketing, sales and technical roles within the food and beverage industry. MSU’s two-year Agriculture Technology Food Processing certificate students, as well as bachelor’s degree and advanced degree students (MS and PhD) attend this fair.

The 15th Annual Great Lakes Hard Cider and Perry Competition (GLINTCAP) took place July 28-30 in Grand Rapids. The event brought in more than 100 volunteers from across the United States to judge, steward, and provide administrative support. Of the 1,561 entries, 1,445 medals were awarded, including many from Michigan. This event is championed by the Michigan Cider Association and included participation from the Michigan Craft Beverage Council. View results here.

Wine professionals gathered in Benton Harbor on August 3rd to evaluate more than 350 submissions in the Judgement of Michigan. This event was coordinated through Michigan Wine Collaborative and Lake Michigan College and is the first of its kind in Michigan. Read more about the event and see a full list of medal winners here.

The Brewers Association is proud to fund event grants in support of local and regional events that thoughtfully and intentionally promote and foster a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive craft beer community. The Brewers Association invites grant proposals from individuals and organizations who are planning virtual, in-person, or hybrid events that will take place in 2021. Planning tools can be helpful for improving profitability, productivity, and minimizing potential risks to your farm business. MSU Extension offers a variety of planning tools, including various Crop Budget Estimators. These Microsoft Excel-based tools have previously been offered in versions for grain or forage crops. What does farm sustainability look like? Voices of Sustainable Agriculture explores a range of topics and perspectives on sustainable agriculture. In this virtual speaker series, farmers and other participants will learn from farmers, researchers, and educators about healthy soil and water, successful farming practices, seed sovereignty, resilience, and more. NextCycle Michigan is a first of its kind initiative from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and the Energy (EGLE) leveraging public and private sector assistance and investment to improve Michigan’s recycling and waste recovery system. The goal of this accelerator program is to advance ideas into shovel-ready ventures that allow for materials, once destined for landfill, to instead circulate within Michigan’s economy, creating jobs, protecting the environment, and improving the quality of life for all who call Michigan home.
