Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition

Expert hard cider and perry judges will gather in Grand Rapids July 29-30 for the 15th annual Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition. Michigan hard ciders will be evaluated next to national and international entries.

Ciders will be organized into three style categories: Standard, Specialty, and Intensified and Distilled. They are then further organized into sub-categories such as Heritage, Modern, Wood Aged, and Fortified.

A ticketed awards dinner concludes the event at the Embassy Suites on Friday, July 30th at 7 p.m. Industry professionals from all sectors are welcome. Tickets can be purchased starting on Monday, July 26 at glintcap.org.


MCBC 2022 Research Grants

The Michigan Craft Beverage Council will post the request for proposals for the 2022 research grant program in September 2021. Funding priorities and timelines can be viewed in advance here.


U.P. Fall Beer Festival

The U.P. Fall Beer Festival will be held on Saturday, September 11 at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette. General admission is 1-6 p.m., with the gates opening at 12 p.m. noon for a VIP hour for Enthusiast Members. Tickets are $50 per person in advance, plus service fees.  ($55 day of) with Designated Driver tickets for $10.

Your ticket includes admission to the festival and 15 tokens for beer samples.

Judgement of Michigan Wines

The Michigan Wine Collaborative and Lake Michigan College are hosting the “Judgement of Michigan Wines” on August 3 in Benton Harbor. Entries will be evaluated by influential media, wine buyers, and other industry professionals. Follow along on Instagram!

Michigan Craft Beverage Council Meeting

The Michigan Craft Beverage Council recently met at Fenn Valley Vineyards on July 14. It was great to see everyone in person, and we enjoyed a vineyard tour following the regularly scheduled meeting. Thank you to Brian Lesperance and the Fenn Valley Vineyards team for their hospitality. The next meeting will take place on September 29, 2021.
