Midwest iHemp Expo, January 10-11, 2020
12.19.19
Attention Michigan hemp growers and processor / handler licensees:
The Midwest iHemp Expo is Jan 10-11, 2020 in Lansing.
This event is the first of its kind in Michigan, and will feature experts and leaders from farming, processing, manufacturing, regulatory, university research and other key fields.
Michigan’s industrial hemp farmers encountered challenges, opportunities and surprises in 2019, the first season of legal hemp since the WWII era. The state has committed to continue the program for 2020, as Michigan works to develop a state program proposal that meets federal rules announced in October.
This is a new agricultural commodity, and the most successful operators throughout the sector are the ones with the most information. The expo is a place to learn, make business connections, get face-to-face with regulators and industry leaders and see what’s new in every aspect of this emerging sector.
MDARD’s staff, including Industrial Hemp Program Director Gina Alessandri and MDARD Laboratory Director Craig VanBuren, will be presenting on issues of importance to growers, processers and manufacturers.
Representatives from USDA’s Farm Service Agency, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Rural Development, and Risk Management will be on-hand as well.
Breakout sessions will look back over the challenges and successes of the past year, and ahead at what everyone working to build Michigan’s industrial hemp economy can expect in 2020.
