USDA Final Interim Rules available for public comment until Dec. 31

On October 29, 2019, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced their final interim rules for industrial hemp. As part of that announcement, USDA said the interim final rules will be available for public comment until December 30, 2019.

The final interim rule and instructions for how to submit public comment are available on the Federal Register.

In summary, the USDA final interim rules establish a new part specifying the rules and regulations to produce industrial hemp. The rules outlines provisions for USDA to approve state plans to produce hemp. It also includes provisions for maintaining information on the land where hemp is being produced, testing the levels of THC, and ensuring compliance with requirements.
