MSDS: 2023-24 Collection Details Manual Update

CEPI has published an updated version of the 2023-24 MSDS Collection Details Manual. Updates include:

  1. Addition of the Early Childhood Michigan Strong Beginnings program. Districts participating in this pilot will begin reporting data for this program in MSDS starting with the EOP 2024 Early Childhood Collection.
  1. Addition of information on when the Contacts component is required. To ensure eligible students and their families receive Summer EBT benefits, submit the Contacts Component with an address type of "Mailing" if the student's mailing address is different than the physical address.

MSDS: TSDL SCED Code Update

Effective in the 2024-25 school year, the list of SCED codes used in TSDL will be updated from v10 to v12. NCES has informed us that the public release of SCED v12 will not take place until May 2024. Once v12 is released to the public, we will send follow-up communications highlighting the complete list of changes.

MI School Data News

The Parent Dashboard on MI School Data is designed to let parents learn lots of information about their child’s school, all in one convenient place. You can find contact information, school size, performance and progress metrics, financial data, and much more. Explore details for one school or compare your child’s school to others.

CEPI has updated the following metrics and information on the Parent Dashboard with data from the 2022-23 school year:

  • Enrolling and Passing Coursework and Advanced Coursework: These metrics provide information about students taking courses such as Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Career and Technical Education, Early Middle College and Dual Enrollment.
  • On-Track Attendance: What percentage of students miss fewer than 10% of possible school days?
  • Similar School Averages, also known as Peer Data: This allows you to compare a school with up to 30 schools that are either geographically close or are similar to the selected school in traits such as number of students, student-teacher ratio, funding, and more.

In the coming weeks, CEPI will also update school contact information on the Parent Dashboard.
