2021-22 Third Grade Retention Collection is Open
The 2021-22 Third Grade Retention Collection is now open. Students who are subject to retention per the Read By Grade Three law are required to be reported in this collection with a retention decision. For additional information, an FAQ document has been posted to the web page under Help & Training.
Important 2021-22 Third Grade Retention Collection Dates:
- July 26, Aug. 12 and Aug. 19 – Data quality checks performed on data submitted before these dates
- Sept. 1 – Third Grade Retention Collection Certification Deadline
2022 SID data are due to CEPI by 11:59 p.m. on June 30.
The collection is considered complete when all buildings have the green check mark status, indicating that the school’s submission is complete for all SID fields. A red “X” indicates that a school’s submission is not complete.
Note: SID data captures incidents "at school," which includes:
- In a classroom or elsewhere on school premises, on a school bus or other school-related vehicle, or at a school-sponsored activity or event whether or not it is held on school premises.
- Conduct using a telecommunications access device or telecommunications service provider that occurs off school premises if the device or service provider is owned by or under the control of the school district or PSA.
The EOY 2022 REP Collection is open, with certified data due to CEPI by 11:59 p.m. on June 30.
- Certification opened on May 30.
- The Mid-Collection Data Quality snapshot deadline was the end of the day on May 31. To ensure your REP data are included in the analysis, records must be updated prior to the snapshot.
- The REP web page has helpful resources to assist in completing the submission.
In the wake of the recent tragedy, it is important to emphasize accurate Public Safety and Mental Health reporting in REP.
-
Police Officer and Public Safety Positions: School resource officers are sworn-in law enforcement by definition and would be reported with a Police Officer assignment code (90900). For all other public safety type positions, please use the Security Guard (92600) and Public Safety Programs (92350) assignment codes.
-
Mental Health Professionals: Use the proper Student Support Services Staff assignment code (89004) for Mental Health professionals to show the resources available to support students.
Starting with the 2022-23 School Year, the Early Roster Collection will only be available for public schools. A new Nonpublic School Student Roster Collection, opening on June 13, has been created and will replace the Early Roster collection for nonpublic schools. We will share more information about the new collection in the next CEPI announcements.
MDE sent the following reminder to GSRP contacts and Head Start grantees in May.
As was necessary in 2020 and 2021, the EOP Early Childhood Collection should be certified by June 30 and remain certified until July 13 to allow a pull of children’s most current records for P-EBT. The collection may then be de-certified for additional updates through its official close on Aug. 24.
Early certification key dates:
- Certify the EOP MSDS Collection by June 30.
- If needed, the collection may be de-certified for further updates beginning on July 14.
- Collection closes on Aug. 24.
Districts can now certify their Days and Clock Hours Collection in the EEM for 2021-22. Reporting instructional days and hours is mandated by state law and must be completed by all districts no later than July 16. ISD users have until Aug. 1 to review and certify the report.
Districts short on the days, hours or attendance requirements must report the shortfalls in D/CH. However, if a district only has an attendance shortfall and the only cancelled days were forgiven, they do not need to report day and hour cancellations. Instead, a comment can be added in the Audit section noting that the district had days cancelled that were forgiven.
For application questions, refer to the D/CH User Guide. Questions regarding the State School Aid Act should be directed to Jessica Beagle at BeagleJ1@michigan.gov.
MDE has launched a new Coordinated Application in NexSys. Child nutrition sponsors must have their program sites listed in EEM before they can be added to the Coordinated Application. To facilitate this change, a new “Member Site” entity type has been created in the EEM. These are buildings or locations that are not schools but distribute food to children.
Sponsor-level entities (districts, nonpublic schools and other non-school recipients) now have a “Member Sites” tab at the bottom of their entity page in EEM. Sites must be listed on this tab before they can be added to the Coordinated Application. Schools and unique education providers belonging to other districts can also be added to this list if the child nutrition sponsor provides food services to them. Users should verify that their Member Sites list is accurate and add any missing sites.
See the Member Sites in the EEM guide for more information, including how to add, create or remove member sites. For questions on the Coordinated Application, please refer to MDE's System Help Documents page.
