2021-22 EMC Student Reporting Information Sessions

MDE's Office of Career and Technical Education invites secondary and postsecondary staff to participate in Early Middle College information sessions three times throughout the school year.

EMC secondary and postsecondary coordinators, administrators, pupil accountants, and student data entry personnel are encouraged to participate in the student reporting information sessions for information and updates on reporting EMC students in the MSDS, the Teacher Student Data Link and the Student Transcript and Academic Record Repository.

The next student reporting information sessions will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 3. Staff from MDE and CEPI will be available.

Administrators are encouraged to participate; however, the calls will be focused on specific technical assistance for those who do the student data entry functions.

The schedule, call-in details, and notes from each session will also be posted on the MDE – EMC web page. If you have any questions, contact Stacey Stover at stovers@michigan.gov.

EEM News

Are Your EEM Records Up to Date?

Have you had any changes in your district or school entities since the beginning of the school year? If so, it is important that the Educational Entity Master be updated to reflect these changes. Please make any appropriate updates in the EEM by Feb. 2.

Please refer to the Are Your EEM Records Up to Date memo for further information.

Adding Virtual Learning Centers to the EEM

MDE must identify and evaluate districts’ use of virtual learning centers. These are locations that are not located within a school building but are used for educational purposes for students taking virtual classes. These locations may have served as a business or commercial operation prior to functioning as a virtual learning center, and students may only be on premises for a short time in order to access technology or mentors.

Virtual learning centers must be added to the EEM as non-instructional ancillary facilities and designated with a Non-Instructional Ancillary Function of “Virtual Learning Center.” These entities will not be used for student reporting but will be used by MDE to verify that districts have a proper certificate of occupancy from LARA.

For more information on how to add a new entity to the EEM, please refer to the How to Open an Entity in the EEM guide, and for more information on virtual learning centers, see MDE’s memo from Dec. 9, 2021.
