As we wind down school year 2020-21 activities, please accept our heartfelt thanks for the good work you do every day, and especially in this pandemic year! The school year challenged us all in new and unexpected ways. The professionals we work with every day stepped up in remarkable ways and made the work possible.
I am proud of what we have been able to accomplish together, and I know the CEPI team shares my deep appreciation for the work that each of you puts into supporting kids, schools and communities through excellent information management practices this and every year.
Enjoy the remaining days of summer!
Thomas Howell Executive Director, CEPI
CEPI is sending weekly notifications to district lead administrators containing the UICs of students identified for retention whose letters were returned as undeliverable.
These notifications are provided so districts can reach out to parents/guardians to explain the Read by Grade 3 law, their student's score, and their available options.
CEPI plans to send the final notification to districts this week for any letters not marked as delivered by the U.S. Postal Service.
District personnel should also check the Dynamic Score Reports through MDE’s Secure Site to identify students who did not meet minimum English language art scores and reach out to parents/guardians proactively, rather than waiting for letter delivery or email notification from CEPI.
The 2020-21 Third Grade Retention Collection is currently open. Students who are subject to retention per the Read by Grade 3 law are required to be reported in this collection with a retention decision. For additional information, CEPI has posted a FAQ document to the web page under Help and Training.
