Submitting Extended COVID-19 Learning Plans

As previously communicated in the Oct. 5 MDE Memo, Extended COVID-19 Learning Plans must be reconfirmed monthly at school board meetings. In addition, the following information must be reported to CEPI, per Public Act 165 of 2020:

  • The instructional delivery method
  • How instruction will be delivered for each grade level offered by the district, including prekindergarten
  • Whether or not the district is offering higher levels of in-person instruction for English language learners, special education students or other special populations

The first submission, due Nov. 6, 2020, will allow districts to submit plan information for the months of September, October and November. In partnership with MDE, this information will be collected in the GEMS-MARS application. The application will be available for the first submission later this week; additional details (including a link for reporting) will be sent to your EEM authorized users and district lead administrators.

For more information, please read the Submitting Extended COVID-19 Learning Plans document.

MI School Data Updates

Visit MI School Data to view updates to the Parent Dashboard, the Student Attendance report, and the Continuity of Service in Special Education Service Comparisons and Service Pathways reports. The Student Mobility report has been updated in preview and will be publicly available after a week. See details of these updates and upcoming reports on the News and Updates page on MI School Data.

MI School Data Redesign

In preparation for the public launch of the redesigned MI School Data, planned for Tuesday, Oct. 27, the preview link provided to authorized users will stop functioning this Friday, Oct. 23.

The redesigned MI School Data will include all the reports users are used to seeing, as well as exciting new features. MI School Data’s updated look and feel are designed to connect users with the information they need quickly and easily. Specialized landing pages provide educators, parents, policymakers and members of the media with data of interest to them in one page. Education Focus Areas delve deeper into specific topics, displaying multiple types of data relevant to that topic and text descriptions to draw connections, provide context and highlight important information. The Education Map shows information about Michigan educational entities and regions, including fast facts, related locations and peer comparisons. The Compare tool allows users to compare up to 20 schools and districts on a variety of topics.

Once the redesigned website becomes available, users still will be able to access the previous MI School Data website at legacy.mischooldata.org. The previous site will be available for two months after the redesign release.
