GAD Exit Status Audit Window: October 5 - December 7

31a FAQ and Guidance for MSDS Reporting
The MDE Section 31a Cross-office team has updated the Section 31a Frequently Asked Questions regarding At-risk eligibility identification and reporting requirements for the 2020-21 school year, including guidance on state assessment and Economically Disadvantaged At-risk criteria during the pandemic. Regarding the MSDS:
- There are no changes to the 2020-21 legislatively defined At-risk criteria and reporting requirements.
- At-risk eligible students should continue to be reported in all general collections during the 2020-21 school year.
EL Exit Information in Your Local Student Information System
English Learner auto exits for the 2019-20 school year were completed by CEPI as planned. However, to ensure local student information systems reflect the same information as MSDS, educators and pupil accounting staff should be sure to enter the students’ EL exit information (including EL exit date) into their SIS. Further information can be found in Step 6 of the EL Exit Reporting Guidelines document.
Early On Services Component Reporting Update
Reporting of the Early On Services Component is required beginning with the Fall 2020 MSDS General Collection. You must report the Service Code characteristic which was moved from the Early On Component. However, due to a need for further guidance from MDE, the Length in Minutes and Frequency of Services characteristics within this component are not required for the Fall and Spring General Collections and may be reported with “0”. These two characteristics will be required for the EOY 2021 General Collection
For 2019-20, Michigan law requires all districts to submit audited and certified financial data in the FID application by Dec. 1 at 11:59 EST.
