The
Michigan Student Data System (MSDS) Spring 2018 General Collection deadlines are below:
-
Certification Deadline: March 28 at 11:59 p.m. EDT
For
more information about each deadline please click on the following link: Submission
and Certification Deadline Information.
Last
fall the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) provided guidance that
districts should not report Section 31a in the Program Participation Component
in the Fall 2017 MSDS General Collection due to changing legislation. For
accountability purposes, a pupil must be identified in two of the three MSDS
General Collections. For the 2017-18 school year, this means your Section 31a
students must be reported in the Spring 2018 and End-of-Year (EOY) 2018
collections.
For
more information see the Frequently Asked Questions in Resources on the MDE
Section 31a At-Risk website.

CEPI and MDE are excited to announce
our partnership in integrating GSRP eligibility and qualifying factor
information into the MSDS. Starting with the EC EOP 2018 Collection, the
child-level information previously reported in MEGS+ on the GSRP Child Information
and Staff Report (CISR) must be reported in the MSDS. The fields reported on
the 2016-17 CISR now collected in the MSDS are: “Additional Risk Factors”, and
“Working Parents”, along with "Qualifying Factors". All other child
fields are already collected in MSDS.
Please read
the Child Information Reporting Memo on the
MDE website for more information.
The upcoming EOY 2018 School Infrastructure
Database (SID) collection will have four new data fields. Per state law, the following fields will be required in
the EOY 2018 collection:
- Instances of
administration of an opioid antagonist to a pupil
- Instances of
administration of an epinephrine auto-injector to a pupil in a school year
- Pupils who were
administered an epinephrine auto-injector who were not known to be severely
allergic
- Pupils who were
administered an epinephrine auto-injector using the school’s stock
Information collected in these fields were previously
captured in a MDE survey. Beginning EOY 2018, these fields will only be
collected in the SID. For more information on these fields and who to contact
for more information, please refer to the 2018 SID
Data Field Descriptions Addendum.
Please note: the EOY 2018 SID collection will open on April 1 and close on June 30.
