The
Seclusion and Restraint Component will be available to report in the Michigan Student Data System (MSDS) Spring
2018 General and the Spring 2018 Early Childhood collections.
For
further information regarding Seclusion and Restraint, the 2017-18
MSDS Collection Details Manual version 1.2 has been posted on the CEPI
website. Also, the 2017-18
MSDS Collection Component Matrix has been updated to include Seclusion and
Restraint business rules.
Because of the dual enrollment issues experienced during the
2016-17 Teacher Student Data Link (TSDL) Collection, CEPI is updating and creating new business rules for
dual enrollment and high school/college credit. View the 2017-18 TSDL Business Rule Updates. We anticipate implementing these
new business rules in January 2018. Please pay close attention to upcoming CEPI
Announcements to learn when these new business rules will be enforced.
Meanwhile,
only submit migrant data in TSDL. The rest of the required subgroups should be reported at the end of the school year.

This field is required to be reported for children in a GSRP or GSRP/Head Start Blended program to be used for program
compliance, and can be reported for other programs. For more information on how
it is defined, why it is collected and how to report, visit the MSDS
Early Childhood Collections New Characteristics 2017-18 link or the MSDS
Collection Details Manual.

New Dashboard
The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) has been working
with CEPI to advance the State Board of Education’s vision of an easy-to-use
online dashboard filled with meaningful school-level data for families. The
resulting Parent Dashboard for School Transparency was developed with extensive
input from parents and educators and includes nearly 20 school-level metrics.
The dashboard is expected to be available in Preview on Dec. 28, 2017. The preview window is for educators to see data before
they're released to the public. Data and web design elements are
embargoed from being released to the media or any outside party until they're
released publicly. If you're a school, district or ISD employee, contact
your ISD
Technical or Curriculum Contact to request access. If you're a college
or university employee, contact your college/university
keyholder.
MDE has
developed a set of Parent
Dashboard Communications Tools to help schools, districts, and
organizations discuss and share this exciting new dashboard with parents and
the community.
Updated Reports
College
Enrollment by High School: Shows the number
of Michigan public high school graduates who enrolled in a college or
university. The report displays the information by high school graduation year
and shows how many Michigan students are going on to college, whether they are
first enrolling in two-year or four-year institutions, and how soon they enroll
after graduating from high school. This report will be updated with Fall 2017
data in Preview within one week, and will remain in preview for a week.
College Enrollment Destination: Allows users to view the
colleges in which students enrolled by school or district, and graduation year.
There are two trend views: “H.S. Graduation Year Trend” follows college
enrollment across graduating classes, while “Enrollment Within Trend” follows
the cumulative college enrollment of a specified graduating class for up to 48
months. This report will be updated with Fall 2017 data in Preview within one
week, and will remain in preview for a week.
Financial
Information Reports: Includes final expenditure,
revenue, fund balance and balance sheet data on district and statewide levels.
In addition, the District Financial Transparency Dashboard will be updated. The
dashboard gives users a comprehensive view of district finances and includes
five-year trend information. The reports and dashboard will be updated with
school year 2016-17 data, and will be released to the public within about two
weeks.
Student Growth: Shows changes in student scores over
time for students who have taken two or more consecutive summative assessments
in Michigan. Student Growth is represented in two formats, by mean student
growth percentile and distribution of students into growth categories. This
report has been updated with 2016-17 school year data and is available to the
public.
Student
Pathways: Shows student-level information on
college enrollment, coursework, cumulative credit, program and award
information, and GPAs from in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities.
K-12 users can see the postsecondary achievement of students previously
enrolled in the school district. Postsecondary users can see high school
assessment and graduation data, and any postsecondary achievement of students
who have attended their college or university. This report will be updated with
Fall 2017 data and released to secure users within two weeks.
