MILogin is scheduled
to be offline on Sunday, March 26 between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.
All CEPI
applications will be offline for routine system maintenance on Sunday, April 2
between 6 a.m. and noon.
As
specified in the State School Aid Act, districts must report all student data
no later than five weeks after the legislated count date. This year that
deadline is Wednesday, March 15 at 11:59 p.m. EDT. The Michigan Student Data System (MSDS) Spring 2017 General Collection submission
deadline does not require your collection to be in a
certified status. However, all student records
must be submitted and ready to certify by this deadline. Users may
correct reporting errors, including resolving full-time equivalency (FTE)
conflicts, until the certification deadline by 11:59 p.m. EDT on March 22.
Many
districts have reported receiving the following warning message as they
attempted to submit their MSDS Spring
2017 General Collection data, and
sought clarity on how this
might impact English Learner (EL) assessment and accountability:
Warning
Description: The student has been reported as English Learner eligible in a
previous collection
and has not been exited. Please report the student with continuing EL
eligibility or provide the EL
exit information.
Jointly
developed Michigan Department of Education (MDE)/CEPI guidance on this issue is
available in the document Clarifying EL Warning on MSDS Spring 2017 General
Collection on the Office of Field
Services Title III website under the What’s New section.
Please
note that all data for MSDS Spring 2017 General Collection must be submitted by
today, Wednesday, March 15; and certified by 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, March 22.
The MSDS Spring
2017 General Collection will close at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, March
22. The certification status for your district's collection must be
"Written to Queue – Available for Certification," "Processing
Certification" or "Certified" by this deadline. Please remember
that your staging area must be error-free and you must successfully complete
the Quality Review process before the system will allow you to certify.
Per section 101(2)
of the State School Aid Act, the deadline for ISD auditors to complete the
audit of the MSDS Fall 2016 General Collection is Wednesday, March 22 (24
weeks after count day).
If you have
questions regarding how to complete the audit in MSDS, please contact CEPI
Customer Support. For general questions related to the audit reporting
requirement, contact Brian Ciloski (ciloskib@michigan.gov or 517-373-3352) in
the MDE Office of State Aid and School Finance. For specific questions related
to audit guidance, contact Naomi Krefman (krefmanN@michigan.gov or
517-335-6858) in the MDE Office of Financial Management.
Effective
the 2017 end-of-year (EOY) collection, an enhancement to the functionality of the Registry of Educational Personnel (REP)
application now allows the user to update records between the official
collection windows. Additionally, users are able to save an employee record
with errors if all the core personnel information is entered correctly. Although the errors must eventually be
corrected before the collection closes, this change makes it easier for the
user to make regular updates to personnel data as they wish.
If the
core personnel information for an employee is entered incorrectly, however, a
“fatal error” will be displayed and the user will be unable to save the
record. As before, records with warnings
will automatically be saved, and the user will be able to determine if further
action to correct the data is warranted.
More
information can be found in the REP
On Demand User Guide.
