Starting Friday,
July 22, CEPI is transitioning to a new telephone system. The transition
is expected to take approximately one month to complete. The CEPI
customer support phone number will not be changing. However, during the
transition period, callers may be forwarded directly to voicemail. Customer
support staff will be monitoring the line regularly and promptly returning
calls. For faster response time, we recommend you email CEPI customer support at CEPI@michigan.gov.
Please do not leave a voicemail message and send an email, as this causes
duplication of work for our staff. We will send
another message when the transition has been completed.
The
Graduation Rate Appeals Window is now open in the MSDS through Wednesday,
September 14, 2016.
This appeals window is your final opportunity to
review and correct the data used to calculate your graduation rate in advance
of rate publications.
For more information, please see the Graduation
Rate Appeals Window is Now Open memo on the Graduation
and Dropout web page, under Help and Training.
The Student
Record Maintenance (SRM) Collection is now open for the submission of
Section 23a claims, LEP Exits, and exit status updates for the Graduation Rate
Appeals Window. Please note the following:
- The SRM Collection is still a
2015-16 collection. Do not submit records effective for the 2016-17
school year in this collection. Use the Early Roster Collection to submit
your projected enrollment for the 2016-17 school year; these data will
be used to populate the Direct Certification report beginning in August.
- Section 23a records containing
a “month claimed” between July 2015 and June 2016 must be submitted no
later than August 31, 2016.
- To accurately exit a
LEP-eligible student as proficient, the LEP exit date and As of Date must
be on or prior to June 30, 2016.
- Submitting data for any purpose
other than Section 23a, LEP Exits or Graduation Rate Appeals is not
recommended, as these data will not be used in any state or federal
reports. Use the Request for UIC or Early Roster Collections to make
updates to student demographic information.
The
Special Education Actual Cost Report (Form SE-4096), collected by the Michigan
Department of Education Office of Special Education (MDE-OSE), is due by September 30 of each year. The SE-4096 is
currently submitted by mailing a hard copy or emailing an Excel spreadsheet
to the department.
For
the 2015-16 reporting cycle, districts may participate in a pilot that allows
the submission to be completed electronically in the Financial Information
Database (FID). Each participating district will be required to submit the
SE-4096 via hard copy to MDE-OSE as well as submitting electronically. If your
district is interested in participating in the pilot, please email Dianne Easterling (EasterlingD@michigan.gov) in MDE-OSE by Friday
July 22, 2016. Include the following information in your email:
- District name and 5-digit district code
- Name
and email address of the person who will complete the submission
Participation
in the pilot submission is limited to the first 100 districts. Once your
request has been received, you will be contacted with further instructions.
Beginning with the 2016-17 reporting cycle (August 2017), submission of the
SE-4096 will only occur in the FID application for all districts.
CEPI is pleased to announce the
inaugural Michigan Postsecondary Success Rate report. The postsecondary
success rates show the number of students earning undergraduate degrees at
Michigan’s public universities and community colleges.
These
rates capture the successes of both part- and full-time degree-seeking students
adjusted for mobility between institutions. Achievement of a four-year degree
from a university, a two-year degree from a community college or transfer to a
university from a community college are all considered successes. Comprehensive
success rates showcase additional successes such as earning a certificate,
earning a bachelor’s degree at a community college, or earning an associate’s
degree at a university. These success rates reflect all the types of successes
a degree-seeking student can earn in postsecondary education.
You
can view the report on MI School Data.
CEPI has
posted a Data Collection Analyst position with a focus on the identity management of student and school personnel utilizing CEPI’s unique identification code (UIC) process.
