Day Camps/Summer Registration Begins TODAY!
On Friday, Feb. 1 registration opens for Ann Arbor Parks & Recreation summer day camps at Argo and Gallup Canoe Liveries, Buhr and Fuller Park pools and Huron Hills Golf Course. To view camp themes and fees please visit http://www.a2gov.org/camps. The new parks activity guide is online at http://www.a2gov.org/parks.
TONIGHT - Funky Frosty Friday
Join us at Buhr Park Outdoor Ice Arena tonight, 7:15-8:45 p.m. as we skate to themed music + dress up. Get in the groove with the sounds of James Brown and the legendary George Clinton. 2751 Packard Road.
We're here year-round at the Ann Arbor Farmers Market
Come visit the Ann Arbor Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Our loyal vendors are here with loads of market goodies - fresh micro greens, farm fresh produce, apples, cider, matcha croissants, fresh baked bread, soy candles, locally-raised meats, eggs and more. Grab a hot RoosRoast coffee or hot Nemeth Orchard deluxe hot cider and enjoy the snow. You'll find free parking in the market lot, 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
Stewardship Workday- World Wetlands Day
Saturday, Feb.2, Gallup Park, 1-3 p.m. World Wetlands Day highlights the importance of wetlands to our communities and our planet. A unique wetland lies alongside the Border-to-Border Trail at Gallup Park. This wet prairie is home to several rare plant species. Join in our efforts to keep this ecosystem healthy by removing invasive shrubs such as buckthorn. From Gallup’s main entrance, drive across the wooden bridge, meet in the first lot after the bridge (map). Please dress in layers and wear shoes suitable for snow or wet ground. All participants must complete a release form, and all minors should be accompanied by a guardian. Tools, snacks, and know-how provided.
Neighborhood Ice Rinks Open
At this time the neighborhood ice rinks at Allmendinger, Burns and Northside park are open for you to enjoy. Crews have been working to clear snow from them for use over the weekend. As temps rise, please remember we will install closed signs if the surface softens up too much and skating on it has the potential to damage the surface. We will post updates should we need to close the rinks based on the weather.
Swim with us despite the cold weather!
Mack Indoor Pool is a great way to get a break from the winter weather. You'll find us at 715 Brooks St. inside Ann Arbor Open School. Visit http://www.a2gov.org/mack for programs, open swim hours and more.
You still have time to register for our last session of group swim lessons at Mack for children ages 6 months and up. Registration will be accepted at any of the city pools during public swim time, by phone or online at http://www.a2gov.org/parksregister. Unless noted, swim lessons are 30 minutes.
