Dear Healthcare Provider,
Starting July 1, 2026, Maine’s Universal Immunization Program will expand vaccine access to all adults 19-64 years, including those who are underinsured, uninsured, or enrolled in MaineCare. A universal immunization program will provide many benefits to both healthcare providers and patients.
Benefits for providers:
Ability to order all recommended vaccines through the Maine Immunization Program, regardless of patient population
Accessing all recommended adult vaccines at no cost
Using a single, streamlined supply of vaccine for both childhood and adult vaccinations.
Benefits for patients:
Increasing vaccine access points
Removing financial barriers
Increasing vaccination rates for the community
As a currently enrolled provider, you will automatically be eligible to begin ordering adult vaccines. Adult vaccines will be added into your existing order set – no separate enrollment is required.
The only new requirement for currently enrolled providers is to submit vaccine administration numbers from the previous year (2025). This will help us estimate vaccine need for the upcoming year. If you have not administered vaccines to adults, but wish to as we move forward, please submit your best estimation for adults 19-64 in your practice that may be eligible for vaccination.
