Date: April 2, 2025
Dear Maine Immunization Program Providers,
As you may be aware, the recent termination of federal COVID-19 response funding has led to significant impacts to state governments across the country. In Maine, this change has directly impacted several staff positions and public health initiatives that were previously supported by these federal grants.
We recognize that these developments may raise concerns about the future of the Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program in our state. We want to reassure you that the VFC Program has not been affected by these funding reductions. Vaccine distribution through the VFC Program will continue without interruption, and all children from birth through 18 years in Maine will maintain access to vaccines at no cost.
The Maine Immunization Program remains fully committed to supporting access to vaccines through the VFC Program. Your dedication ensures that, even as the state navigates changes in funding and infrastructure, Maine’s children remain protected from preventable diseases. We understand the critical role that providers like you play in protecting the health of Maine’s children, and we are deeply grateful for your continued partnership.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at: ImmunizeME.DHHS@maine.gov or 207-287-3746.
