Subject: New Digital Data Logger Updates and FAQ
The Maine Immunization Program (MIP) is pleased to announce the selection of the VFC800-WiFi Data Logger with Smart Probe as our new cloud-based digital data logger for monitoring state-supplied vaccine temperatures.
Key Updates:
-
Mandatory Transition: All enrolled providers are required to use the new data logger at each Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Adult 317 provider location.
-
Improved Oversight: By transitioning to this cloud-based platform, MIP will enhance temperature monitoring, reduce vaccine wastage, and ensure greater assurance of viable vaccinations.
What You Need to Know:
Rollout Details:
- Each enrolled site will receive a data logger for each storage unit containing state supplied vaccine.
-
Although these units have cloud upload capability, providers must continue maintaining paper logs and manually entering data into ImmPact per federal guidelines.
- One new back-up data logger will also be provided to each enrolled provider location one year from the initial roll-out, during 2026.
Timeline:
-
January 2025 – June 2025: Data loggers will be shipped in a tiered approach. Sites will receive an individual email outlining shipment dates and training schedules.
-
Goal: All enrolled provider sites will be set up with the new data loggers by June 2025.
IMPORTANT – Actions Required:
Do Not Discard Current Data Loggers:
- Continue using your current data loggers as back-ups.
-
Ensure all back-up data loggers have a valid calibration certificate.
Pre-Training Preparation:
Before your scheduled training session, the provider site’s IT department must complete the following:
Download Software:
-
Visit Control Solutions Software Downloads.
-
Select “VFC800-WiFi” from the dropdown menu.
-
Ensure your IT administrator has admin rights to install the software on your PC.
-
You will need to know the Wi-Fi access point credentials (network name and password).
Review QuickStart Guide:
Survey to Confirm Quantities - **RESPONSE REQUIRED**
To ensure a smooth transition, we ask that each site please complete this Survey if not already done. This survey will determine the quantity of data loggers needed for each provider’s location. Please complete this survey promptly to avoid any delays in delivery and training.
