Subject: Data Logger Roll-Out

Date: November 19, 2024

The Maine Immunization Program (MIP) is pleased to inform you about the upcoming rollout of new data loggers, which will enhance our ability to monitor vaccine temperatures and ensure the safety and efficacy of immunizations across the state. MIP will be providing VFC800-WiFi Data Loggers with Smart Probe from Control Solutions as our standardized digital data logger for all providers.

Key Updates and Timeline:

Survey to Confirm Quantities  - **RESPONSE REQUIRED**

To facilitate a smooth transition, we ask that each enrolled provider confirm the number of data loggers needed through this SURVEY. We kindly ask that you complete this survey promptly to ensure we can fulfill each provider’s requirements efficiently.

Shipping Schedule

The initial shipment of data loggers to providers will begin in January 2025. Our goal is for all providers to have the data loggers in place and operational by July 1, 2025, marking the start of our new fiscal year. At that time, the use of these data loggers will become a requirement for all providers, regardless of any specific units required by your organization. This decision aligns with our commitment to standardizing data across all facilities to maintain quality and reliability in temperature monitoring.

State-Mandated Model Requirement

While the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) allows providers to select their data loggers, Maine has decided to adopt a single model for all providers. This consistency across the state will simplify oversight and support, ensuring that all facilities meet the same standards for vaccine safety.

Training Sessions

MIP will be hosting a virtual training session and have invited representatives from Control Solutions to present on November 21, from 11:00 to 11:30 AM. They will provide an overview of the data loggers and answer any questions you may have. Additionally, once data loggers are shipped out, each provider will receive a separate training session to support hands-on implementation.

FAQ and Support

We understand that adopting new equipment may bring questions and concerns. We have updated our MIP Digital Data Logger (DDL) FAQ's to address common inquiries and provide resources to guide you. Please see below. For further assistance, you can reach out to us at (207) 287-3746 or via email at: ImmunizeME.DHHS@maine.gov.

Importance of Prompt Communication

To ensure a seamless transition, please be prompt in responding to any MIP communications regarding data loggers. This will help us provide each facility with the necessary resources and support during this process.

Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to vaccine safety in Maine. We look forward to working closely with you to make this transition smooth and successful.
