NEW PERMIT SEARCH DATABASE

The Subsurface Wastewater Unit of the Drinking Water Program is excited to announce the release of its new permit search database!

This new permit database has a more advanced search, allowing users to search for address, map #, lot #, and property owner information, in addition to town and year. This database now contains most of the 2019-2022 permits received by the State, as well as some of the 2023-2024 permits. We appreciate your patience as we continue to scan and index those permits into the database. New permits are added on a weekly basis.

As the new search feature is different than the previous database, we’ve created a guidance document to help. Please note that some of the older permits, which were migrated from the previous database, might not have all property owner/ street address information. Those permits can still be searched using the old method of Town/ Year, and then scrolling through the results.

The old permit database has been discontinued. This database hadn’t been updated since 2019, and it had significant structural issues, frequently preventing users from accessing permit files.

FOR ALL TOWNS: Please update any links on your website to the old database with a link to the current one: https://www.maine.gov/dhhs/mecdc/environmental-health/plumb/SystemSearch.htm

For questions, please contact subsurface.wastewater@maine.gov.
