Dear Child Care Provider,

I am writing to let you know that on October 30th, 2023, you will receive a request to complete the 2024 Maine Child Care Market Rate Survey. The Maine Department of Health and Human Services’ (DHHS) Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) has contracted with the Burns & Associates division of Health Management Associates (HMA-Burns), an independent research firm, to conduct the 2024 Maine Child Care Market Rate Survey. The Center for Early Learning Funding Equity (CELFE) is providing analytical support of cost data collected through this survey.

The 2024 Maine Child Care Market Rate Survey collects information about current child care market rates, service capacities, provider perspectives about participating in the State’s child care subsidy programs, and similar information. The survey also requests more detailed information about provider costs, including staff wage levels, benefit levels, revenue sources, and expenses. OCFS is using this information to better understand provider costs, including the costs of delivering higher quality services.

Providers completing and submitting their surveys by November 3rd, 2023 will be automatically entered into a drawing for a $500 Visa Gift Card. A second drawing for $200 will be held for providers who submit their survey by November 10th, 2023 and a third drawing for $100 will be held for providers who submit their survey by November 17th, 2023. Providers who submit their survey by November 3rd, 2023 will be entered into all three drawings.

We are requesting all surveys be submitted no later than December 1st, 2023.

If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Derek Barber from the HMA-Burns survey team at (517) 993-9229, or by email at dbarber@healthmanagement.com

You may also contact OCFS Child Care Services Program Manager, Crystal Arbour, at (207) 626-8683 or by email at Crystal.Arbour@Maine.gov

Thank you for your time and consideration. It is only with the generous help of people like you that the survey can be successful.

Sincerely,

Crystal
