Subject: Pre-ordering Now Open for COVID-19 Vaccine

Date: September 7, 2023

As COVID-19 commercialization is fast approaching, preparations are being made to start the distribution of the updated COVID-19 vaccine. Pre-ordering for all providers enrolled in the Maine Immunization Program is now open.

Many will be familiar with the roll-out process, as we will be following the same steps as were followed with previous COVID-19 roll-outs during the pandemic. Following the initial pre-order period on September 7 and 8, and upon approval from FDA and ACIP approval next week (week of September 11), regular ordering will start. Pre-orders will close on Friday, September 8 at 3:00 pm. Once the updated COVID-19 vaccine is fully approved, pre-orders will begin shipping out to providers.

The following presentations are available to pre-order within ImmPact:

*Pfizer vaccine will be shipped in ultra-cold temperatures, but may be stored in the refrigerator upon arrival.

COVID-19 vaccine will no longer be available to order through the Pandemic Allocation within ImmPact. It will now be ordered in the same way as routine vaccinations are ordered.

To avoid wastage, we encourage providers to only order what they anticipate using within a 6-week period. COVID-19 vaccine has recently been added to the Wastage & Replacement Policy. Providers having any preventable wastage over 5% may be responsible for replacement of vaccine.

FOR BRIDGE ACCESS PROGRAM PROVIDERS ONLY:

Pre-orders will not be placed through ImmPact. Orders for your 19y+ uninsured adult population should be submitted to: MEAdultVaccine@maine.gov.

If you have any questions, please contact the Maine Immunization Program at (207) 287-3746 or email ImmunizeME.DHHS@maine.gov.

Thank you for your continued efforts to ensure that Mainers have access to COVID-19 vaccination.
